The greatest gift

As we grow, we discover wonderful gifts
Some of them are small
Some that have more meaning
Some that give us a more spiritual lift

The greatest gift for me was becoming a dad
The lessons learned through fatherhood
Taught by my children
Have made me a much better person

I appreciate silent times.
Where reflection on life can be a challenge
Thoughts of my weakest moments
Make me humble and sad, but human

While trying to be a father worthy of being remembered
Provides the source of hope, a source of courage
For my soul, my heart
Building memories only parents understand.
